Jan Vojacek was born in the Czech Republic and completed Medical School at Charles University in Prague, where he later obtained his Ph.D. and full professorship in cardiac surgery. After his residency, he trained at leading international centers including Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, the Bristol Heart Institute, and the University Hospital Maastricht.
He currently serves as Chief of the Department of Cardiac Surgery and of the Complex Cardiovascular Centre at the University Hospital Hradec Kralove. His main clinical and scientific interests focus on reconstructive valve surgery, with extensive experience in aortic valve repair, minimally invasive mitral valve procedures, the Ross operation, homografts, and advanced aortic surgery. He is also involved in robotic cardiac surgery.
Prof. Vojacek is President of the Czech Society for Cardiovascular Surgery and Chair of the EACTS Aortic Valve Task Force, and has authored more than 130 scientific publications.
